The genesis of B.HOM Student Living came about naturally. Our clients expressed a growing desire to invest in the student housing market, and B.HOM Student Living had the operating platform to support this niche service. We married our long-standing platform with one of the most well-respected, singularly-focused, student housing leaders in the industry to develop what we believe is a specialized management team.

Ted Broadfoot

Executive Vice President

Ted Broadfoot is the Executive Vice President of B.HOM Student Living. He has over three decades of real estate experience and has been involved in over $5 billion of acquisition and disposition transactions.

Ted has significant multifamily property management experience which includes repositionings and renovations. His previous experience includes Executive Vice President of Pinnacle Campus Living, Principal with Warner Alan Properties, Vice President of Operations for Fath Properties and Divisional Operations Manager for Krupp Realty Company (now Berkshire Group).

Ted graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Jonathan Jeans has over 10 years of student housing property management experience.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has been heavily involved with all aspects of asset management, from high leasing velocity to peak efficiency within operations and increasing NOI, to successful acquisitions and technology efficiency. Through his experience, he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that he continues to utilize and expand upon today to ensure the success of all our assets no matter the market or product type.

Prior to joining B.HOM, he was Director of Technology at Pinnacle Campus Living and Director of Technology and Management Systems for Campus Evolution Villages.

Jonathan graduated from Austin Peay State University, where he received bachelor’s degrees in Public Relations and Political Science.

Jeremy Cumbo is the National Director of Maintenance for B.HOM Student Living. He has worked in the student housing sector his whole career.

Jeremy began his career in property management as a leasing consultant where he quickly learned that leasing was not for him and that maintenance was his passion and the path he wanted to follow. His prior experience includes Peak Campus Management where he held many positions from onsite maintenance, national facilities, and construction management.

Jeremy graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business.

Joyce brings more than 30 years of experience (primarily focused on the Atlanta MSA) in multifamily real estate to her position as Regional Vice President, including an extensive background in acquisitions and management transitions.

Prior to joining BH Management Services, Ms. Copeland served as Vice President of Operations for RAM Partners, LLC, and held previous positions as Vice President of Property Management with Post Properties and President of Operations in the Southeast for Trammel Crow.

Brandon has been working in the real estate industry since 2001, with positions in many fields, from property management to development to residential brokerage.

Starting out as a Resident Advisor & Leasing Agent for Allen & O’Hara (now Greystar) at a complex near NC State University, Brandon then graduated and became Tower Manager at Granville Towers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After two years, Brandon earned his NC Real Estate Broker’s license and went into residential brokerage in Raleigh, NC.

In 2008, Brandon was asked to join Kenney Realty Services as a Community Manager. In less than three years, Brandon was promoted to Vice President of Student Housing overseeing a $75 million portfolio of nearly 2,200 beds. In 2014, he earned his general contractor’s license and assumed the role of Vice President of Kenney Development and was promoted to Sr. Vice President of Kenney Realty. By 2016, his roles included overseeing operations, staff training & development, marketing & leasing, systems administration, and construction/development of 12 apartment communities (with more than 3,300 residents) and three development sites, spanning five states. In his role, he also oversaw more than 80 employees in 14 different locations.

In July 2016, Brandon became General Manager & Broker-in-Charge of Pennink & Huff Property Management in Fayetteville, NC. At PHPM, he operated a full-service, independent real estate firm, specializing in property management, with a management portfolio of 750 properties and serving more than 600 clients. Brandon also did extensive work with landlord-clients & investors to buy & sell properties throughout the Fayetteville-region. Brandon also joined Coldwell Banker Advantage real estate brokerage and brokerage & property-management work through much of 2018.

In late 2018, Brandon was asked to consult with a small investment firm in California to build a student-housing property-management platform, and it reignited his love for that business. He joined Pinnacle Campus Living in April 2019 as a Regional Property Manager and has since managed nearly 4,000 beds in seven markets around the Southeast and served as the Broker-in-Charge for Pinnacle Campus Living in North Carolina.

Brandon holds a B.S. in Business Management from NC State University and maintains an Broker’s License in the state of North Carolina. He also serves on a number of boards & advisory committees in his hometown of Fayetteville, NC.

Kristina has overseen the Midwest Region as Regional Vice President since 2014.

Kristina has been a BH employee since August 2008 and has more than 13 years of multifamily experience. In addition to being a Regional Vice President, she has served as AVP of Operations, Regional Manager and Property Manager for BH. Prior to joining BH, she worked for Pinnacle and was the marketing director for Western Filtration Technologies.

He resides in San Diego, California, and currently oversees a portfolio of 3,000+ beds in Class A luxury student housing assets nationwide.

With over thirteen years of experience in property management Derek has led Section 8, Conventional, on-campus Student Housing, and off-campus Student Housing communities. Derek has a Bachelor of Science in Business and an MBA from the University of Colorado.

Starvel joins B.HOM with over 18 years of experience in the multifamily industry, which includes overseeing the daily operations of 75 communities in 40 different markets in 25 states, which included over 9,600 units and 28,400 beds.

He has serviced the needs of institutional clients, not-for-profit organizations (501C3), and private investors. The types of proprieties included on & off-campus purpose-built student housing – A/B classes (midrise and high rise, mixed-use, garden-style properties, and condominiums) and conventional A/B/C class properties. He has extensive experience in new lease-ups, stabilized assets, repositioning distressed assets, acquisitions, dispositions, and business development, and assets in receivership.

Starvel has a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration and Masters in Education both from Langston University and holds the following designations: Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS), and the Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS). He also a licensed realtor in the state of Texas.

Lauren Rosenberg is an Associate at B-Hom, with responsibility for overseeing day-to-day operations and management of the B-Hom student housing portfolio as well as supporting all aspects of the acquisition and underwriting process.

Prior to joining B.Hom Student Living (formerly Pinnacle Campus Living), Lauren worked as an analyst at Candlebrook properties where she analyzed investment returns, acquisition, and refinance of student housing assets. Prior to Candlebrook, Lauren worked as an acquisitions intern at Fortuna Realty Group—a New York City based owner/developer of hotels.

Lauren earned a B.S. in Real Estate Finance from Baruch College-CUNY.

Harry Bookey

Harry Bookey, the Founder and Chairman of BH Equities and BH Management Services, oversees the corporate strategic planning and analysis of property positioning for both companies.

Since the founding of BH in 1993, Harry has been engaged full-time in all aspects of property acquisitions, asset management and property management. He has supervised BH’s growth from a small startup company to becoming the eighth largest multifamily management company and the 11th largest multifamily owner in the nation. Prior to forming BH, Harry served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of a national real estate development and syndication firm based in Des Moines. He has also practiced law, specializing in real estate and syndication work in two leading law firms in Des Moines. Harry earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

As President of BH Companies, Joanna Zabriskie has led BH to become one of the largest multifamily management and investment companies in the nation.

She joined BH in 2013 as Senior Vice President, focusing on new initiatives and special projects to improve the overall operating efficiency of the organization. In December 2014, Joanna was promoted to President and since then, BH and its joint venture partners have invested more than $1.18 billion of equity capital into multifamily assets. Prior to joining BH, her previous company co-invested with BH for many years as a sponsor/partner on multifamily acquisitions. Her roles included serving as the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Harbour Realty Partners, a company she co-founded to invest in multifamily properties and serving as Managing Director for Captec Financial Group. Joanna earned an undergraduate degree from Carleton College, a Masters in International Management and an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management

Andrew is a founding Principal of Timberline Ventures where he leverages his 25 years of hands-on real estate experience.

Widely regarded as an entrepreneurial and innovative thinker in the real estate industry, Andrew’s experience crosses many disciplines including, legal, finance, land development, construction, strategic planning and capital markets. Under Andrew’s leadership, he grew the Campus Evolution Villages brand to approximately 10,000 beds since his launching of the company in 2012. Campus Evolution was recognized as a leader in student housing and has gained ranking as a top 20 student housing owner by Student Housing Business.

Student housing is not new to Andrew, as Mr. Stark was instrumental in launching American Campus Communities (NASDAQ: ACC), an early student housing company, which later went on to be the first company in the sector to go public on a US stock exchange. Andrew and his partners brought the capital to ACC to acquire its first asset and then acquired the company, built-out the management team and provided all growth capital leading up to its IPO. This initial venture was successful in bringing creative thinking and capital to this student housing vehicle in a sector that was in its infancy.

With over 15 years of hands-on real estate, private equity and investment banking experience, Nathaniel has been a leader in all aspects of real estate analysis, acquisitions, asset management, capital raising and operations for high-net-worth and institutional investment partners. Nathaniel partnered with Andrew Stark in 2012 and launched Campus Evolution Villages growing the company from two employees to a top 20 student housing owner/operator with more than 250 employees across the country. Today Nathaniel serves as Executive Vice President of B.HOM Student Living, part of the Pinnacle organization with over 165,000 residential apartments under management.

Prior to launching Campus Evolution Villages, he worked in the Investment Banking group at Cantor Fitzgerald where he helped execute various strategic advisory transactions and capital raises for alternative investment funds, structured investment vehicles, traditional private placements, primary and secondary offerings as well as equity-linked, preferred, debt and mezzanine securities. Previously, he worked on the investment and asset management team for a value-add private equity fund at LaSalle Investment Management, where he helped acquire over $2 billion in real estate assets on behalf of institutional investors. Nathaniel graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
